Meagan Good knows the heart wants what it wants.
Indeed, the Harlem actress recently shared that she continued her relationship with Jonathan Majors despite “every friend” telling her to wait for the outcome of his domestic abuse trial.
“I take everyone’s opinion and advice into account, for sure, but at the end of the day, I’m the one who has to live my life,” Meagan admitted on the July 9 episode of Today. “I’m the one who has to get to Heaven one day, prayerfully, and give God an account of what I did. So, I want to be responsible for the choices that I make. I also want to live the life that I want to live.”
In December, Jonathan was found guilty of misdemeanor assault and harassment of ex-girlfriend Grace Jabbari. He was found not guilty on one count of assault in the third degree and one count of aggravated harassment. While he will not serve time in jail, he was sentenced to a 52-week in-person counseling program and $250 charge.
Throughout, Meagan—who began dating Jonathan in May 2023—has remained by his side.
“At the end of the day, one thing I know is that I can always look myself in the mirror when I trust my spirit, when I trust God, when I ask God, when I move to the beat of my own drum — I can always look and say, ‘I’m proud of that,’” she explained. “Whatever happens, I have peace in my heart and I have harmony in my heart.”
And with the former Marvel star, she has found peace in her life, too.
“The support we’ve been able to give to each other, the pouring into each other, the honest conversations, the love, the respect, just the care, and the thoughtfulness,” she continued, “it’s been really wonderful."
It’s been a journey to get to this place for the Think Like A Man star, who split from husband DeVon Franklin in 2021. But, she’s always been able to find the silver lining.
“A big part of the journey was discovering that when it feels like your life is ending, sometimes it’s really just beginning,” she exclusively told E! News. “And there’s a blessing even in what feels like one of the worst moments of your life.”
