In Monday night's 26-13 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs, quarterback Derek Carr suffered an oblique injury that knocked him out of the game in the fourth quarter. After the contest, Carr said he was "not good," with an MRI set for Tuesday. Saints depth chart: Who is Derek Carr's backup at QB?
New Orleans has had three quarterbacks on its active roster so far this year:
- Derek Carr
- Jake Haener
- Spencer Rattler
Haener filled in for Carr on Sunday. The second-year signal-caller out of Fresno State completed two of his seven passes for 17 yards.
Rattler, however, could be in the mix to take over the starting job, according to Garafolo and Rapoport. The fifth-round rookie out of South Carolina was engaged in a competition with Haener for the No. 2 job throughout training camp, but he has been inactive throughout the start of the regular season, serving only as an emergency option.
