Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas have resolved a case in which the "Game of Thrones" star sued Jonas for allegedly refusing to return their two daughters to England amid their divorce.
Lawyers for the two parties on Tuesday requested that a U.S. district judge in New York dismiss the federal lawsuit, according to court documents obtained by USA TODAY. On Wednesday, the judge signed off on the consent order, effectively terminating Turner's case.
In documents filed in the southern district of New York, Turner and Jonas' attorneys said that last week a U.K. court approved a consent order that the pair recently filed, which contains a parenting plan "resolving the parenting aspects of their matter."
USA TODAY has reached out to representatives for Jonas and Turner for comment.
This development comes nearly four months after Turner claimed in this lawsuit that Jonas was withholding their children's passports and refused to allow them to return to England, where Turner is from. They share 3-year-old daughter Willa and a second daughter, who was born in July 2022 and whose name remains private.
Jeff Raymond, a representative for Jonas, said in a Sept. 21 statement to USA TODAY that the former couple "had a cordial meeting this past Sunday in New York, when Sophie came to New York to be with the kids. They have been with her since that meeting." Jonas said that if he complied with Turner's request to let the children go to England, he would be "in violation of the Florida Court order."
Turner's lawsuit came two weeks after Jonas filed for divorce from Turner in Miami. In October, the former couple reached a temporary agreement regarding sharing custody of their two daughters, which detailed which dates the children would be with each parent. Each parent was able to temporarily travel with their children to the United Kingdom or any U.S. state during their allotted time.
